vagejs with Gemini CLI
One setting, then you're set.

Gemini CLI is Google's open-source coding agent for the terminal. It reads GEMINI.md by default, so it needs one setting to pick up the AGENTS.md file every vagejs site comes with.

Google has replaced Gemini CLI with Antigravity CLI for unpaid-tier and Google One users. Antigravity CLI reads AGENTS.md without any setup; see below.

Set up

terminal
npm install -g @google/gemini-cli
npm create vagejs@latest my-site
cd my-site && npm install

Then tell Gemini CLI to read AGENTS.md. Create .gemini/settings.json in the site folder:

JSON
{
  "context": {
    "fileName": ["AGENTS.md", "GEMINI.md"]
  }
}

Start a session with gemini. Type /memory show to check that the vagejs instructions are loaded. The Gemini CLI configuration reference lists every setting.

Allow the safe commands

Add the read-only commands to the same settings file so Gemini doesn't ask about them every time:

JSON
{
  "context": { "fileName": ["AGENTS.md", "GEMINI.md"] },
  "tools": {
    "allowed": ["run_shell_command(npm run check)", "run_shell_command(npm run build)", "run_shell_command(npx vage info --json)"]
  }
}

Use the default approval mode for everything else, and skip --yolo on a site you care about.

Antigravity CLI

Antigravity CLI (agy) is Google's newer terminal agent. It reads AGENTS.md and GEMINI.md natively, plus rules in .agents/rules/, so a vagejs site works without the settings file above. Installation and sign-in are covered in Google's Antigravity docs.

Prompts to try

Read AGENTS.md. Turn the menu notes pasted below into a /menu/ page with one section per course. Run npm run check when you're done.
Check every page title. List the ones longer than 60 characters and suggest shorter versions. Don't change them yet.

The prompt library has prompts for everyday jobs.

Start with one command.
You'll have a site running in a minute.

npm create vagejs@latest my-site
